Researching Ancillary Products: The importance and function of digipaks to the music industry

During class, we had a discussion about the importance and function of digipaks to the music industry, here's some of the things that we mentioned; 

• Digipaks make more information available about the artist or band.
• Digipaks are a modern approach to CD packaging.
• Digipaks encourage audiences to pay more for something "special" and which offers more e.g. artist images.
• During a time at which illegal downloading is rising, digipaks can be seen as an incentive to get people buying music again.
