Research for Music Video: The music industry

The music industry has changed hugely in the last 10 years.

Production (The process of marking music and recording it to a sufficient standard so that it can be sold)
Then: Artists used to go to professional studios and technology was much more basic and simple.
Now: Comfort of your on home, computer and your own personal studio in your house. For example Daniel Bedingfield produced his first album from home.

Distribution (How this music gets to people and how they know about it)
Then: Tv, radio and newspapers had various advertisements as well as magazine articles.
Now: Billboards and the use of the Internet has been a massive help in promoting and distributing music. Bluetooth and itunes help transmit songs from one dive to another. File converter is also available.

Exchange (What changed hands between the people who own the music, and it's audience in reward for the chance to listen to it)
Then: Used to buy CD's and records from stores like HMV.
Now: Downloads for free via the internet and piracy.
