Analysis of previous student's digipak

I chose to analyse this student's digipak as it looks very professional and well laid out.
On the front cover is an image of the Artist with his name, album title and parental advisory logo. They chose to stick with a grey colour scheme, although this is basic it is very consistent so it is doesn't look very messy with lots of different colours.
On the spine it has the artist name, album title, record number.
On the back cover, again it has the artist name and album name. It has the tracklist, barcode, copyright information, various logos of companies.
On the inside it has the tracklist again and various information about the album such as; produced by, lyrics written by, musicians, thanks, photos and the artists website.
On the other side of the inside it has where the cd will go.
Also I like the graphic they used where there is a stream of wavy lines going across the covers.

Things I liked:

Consistant colour throughout.
The image used for the front cover links in to the album name.
The design that they used which goes across both inside and outside covers.
Only one font used throughout.

Things they could change:

I don't think they should have included the tracklist again on the inside.

A lot about this Digipak works, but i also think a lot about it does work...

Positives:
Consistant colour scheme
Strong main image
Nice feminine imagery; cupcakes,lollypops, flowers and butterflys
Nice use of feminine fonts
The way the image in within the butterfly

Things they could improve:
Use of less fonts, the student uses too many different fonts which breaks the overall image of the digipack
The overlay makes the digipak look too busy
Maybe not slant the text
Most of the thinks on the digipak started to look random
The colours used on certain parts of text are too similar to the background making it hard to read the text.

Overall i think this digipack has a very strong point about it. But it also has its downfalls. In all the images and graphics all link together.

Practising making a Digipak

This is the digipak that I have individually created within a lesson. It is not great, but it is not awful either. There are some decent things that I have included and some things that I can improve on when I am going to make a digipak for our Music Video.

I included the basic things to make it a digipak such as:

Having the artists image on the front cover.
The artist's name and album title on the front.
Artist's name, album title, production company on the spine.
A logo for the production company.
Track list.
Copyright logo.
Copyright for the production company.
Website of the production company.

Things that I did good:

Added a filter to the image on the front cover.
Created a logo for the company although it was not the best.
Added a barcode.
Added the copyright with the company's website.

Things that I could have improved on:

Add more colour into it.
Choose different fonts.
Add a background image to make it stand out.
Make a better logo or get a ready made one.

Digipak Self Analysis

Strengths:

Display's artists name in large, bold, eye-catching font that directly links to the 'street' theme of the album because of it's hard, solid and blocky style.
Shows the name of the album 'Reflections Of A Dealer' while also spelling out the word 'Road' - this style of font is also in keeping with the font used for the artists name, this is a form of continuity.
Display's standard features you would expect to see on the reverse of an album cover i.e. Barcode, recording company logo and track-listing.
Presents a clear image of the artist.

Weaknesses:

Image of artist is far to stretched out
Front cover of Digipak is lacking diversity, colour and liveliness
Back panel of digipak is also lacking colour and vibrancy
There is no spine in between the front and back panel

Digipak Experimenting

Here I have quickly designed a rough Digipak. In order to create this Digipak I incorporated a variety of different elements that would typically be seen on a standard CD cover, for example; recording label logo, bar code, track-listing, album title, artist name, artist image etc.
