This is an example of one of our cross fade edits which we used to make our music video look even more exciting. This allows the artist to be the central idea while introducing the next shots. As the artist says the word 'faded' from the lyrics of the song it fades into the next shot. We wanted to make the editing link in some way and justify why we decided to use it.

Another one of our clips that i editing by using video transitions to merge a clip of our artist and a shot of some cool graffiti.. this part plays at an interval of the song.
As our song by Example-Shot yourself in the foot again, was a fast paced and upbeat song i decided to take a look at the album covers of the artist to give me some inspiration into the production of my Digipak.
The colours and style on the album covers reiterate the backgrounds in our music video as they are bright, colourful and rather 'random' to the sense that it looks quirky. The mise en scene is also rather casual (photo 2) where he is in a t-shirt or hoodie similar to our artist in our music video.
'Via Twitter, Example tweeted that on the plane to Sydney he plans on writing some songs for a new album and he will be listening to Kasabian's new album for lyrical
inspiration.'
A collaboration between Example and Skream, entitled "Shot Yourself in the Foot Again" received its first radio play from Zane Lowe on his BBC Radio 1 show on 4 January 2011, having been made available as a free download soon after.
I have learnt a few new editing skills during the editing process of my music video even though it is very similar to the way in which we made our thriller filming. I must admit i wasn't very confident when it came to editing together the lip sync and often struggled but recently i am finding it alot easier to use, i asked my group members for help and they were brilliant. I also learnt how to use 'markers' by pressing the keys 'Ctrl' & 'M' at the same time to create a red mark on the timeline in which you can line up your lip sync with the lyrics or beat of the song so that it makes our artist look like he is singing the song.
Rendering: We had problems when it came to rendering particualr clips and we coudlnt use the shortcut method that we learnt previous 'Cmd' & 'R' at the same time. Therefore we had to go to Sequence and then Render all. (I learnt this from our thriller coursework) This rendering process enabled all the clips and the effects to be applied correctly and so when watching the footage it was clear, precise and everything was exactly where you wanted it.

Oh yeah, another student who study's media finished his video so taught me how to add an effect to a couple of our clips that appear at the end of our music video. It's called 'Blink' and it acts as a transparent effect in which two clips are overlapped and a blinking motion is performed this was a create effect to use as it goes with the beat of our song and is rather edgy and disjointed.

I have also learnt more about team work and the skill of being able to communicate and deal with circumstances that are not exactly beneficial but do often happen. (People being ill, not able to attend a filming session etc) Luckily i was pared up with people who worked around everyone else's time table and even though our priorities was to finish our music video we also studied other subjects and had to create a schedule's that suited everybody.
Well today was a very productive day and we got so much done. The deadline is FAST approaching so every spare moment I have this week I intend to put my time and effort into making this music video AMAZING or try to lol. I had a three hour media lesson this morning so we got a lot of the editing done trying to improve it as much as we could from our rough cut edit. Kudiwa, Ismial and myself asked lots of questions, came across many difficulites but we WILL do our best to make our music video look really good. Anyways I made the decision to stay behind until about 3pm to continue editing because I thought that Friday is going to be jam packed with students trying to finish off their coursework to meet the deadline and I didn’t want to be in the position I was in last year trying to cram everything in at the last minute. Kudiwa stayed behind with me and we worked so well together it was awesome. We actually finished the music video and we showed lots of people, we got some really good feedback from students as well as a few criticisms that we will fix before the deadline. Sometimes staying behind a few extra hours is a great thing ebcuase Kudiwa and I learnt so many more skills on how to use final cut pro and this will therefore help us with future editing techniques and ideas. Tomorrow I’m planning on coming in a tad bit earlier to just make a few adjustments and make everything perfect in my eyes. At least the whole of the song is completed and we can just change and alter anything we are unhappy with.
Hopefully tomorrow is another successful and productive day in which we can COMPLETELY finish our music video and be proud of what we have achieved.
