Creating my own broken record for digipak

Original Record; Copy right image so i have to create my own image using the image below as inspiration.

I have used a tutorial that i found using google search to do this...I will begin with the image below....

And this is how i done it :)...

I tried using the tutorial but nothing was working so i am going to freestyle the way i make it... you can watch a video of my failed attempts :)

Help from a youtube tutorial :D

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L8rh2wXD9q0

This video was very helpful as i was having difficulties learning how to delete backgrounds on particular images. This video broke down the stages and it was therefore much easier to follow the steps.

Most up design idea

My mock up design of my front and back panel of my digipak idea. There is a continuous use of the same colours throughout, black, White and purple. I will incorporate red into my final design as i think it will contrast well with the other colours. I will also add a design effect to give it more excitement and to further reflect the genre of the album. More images of the artist will be portrayed throughout the digipak as it give the audience a sense of identifying who the artist is and creates more of an appeal.

CHANGES THAT NEED TO BE MADE

  • The background colour of the image of the artsit- it doesn't blend in with the black background
  • The font title of the artist name and the album
  • The number of tracks at the back of the album
  • The style and layout is very boring and lacks excitement and colour
  • Artist website, names, information
  • Inside panels

Researching Ancillary; Magazine advertisements

http://www.flickr.com/photos/44928084@N06/4314107478/

Examplemagazine.com shows a nike advert with dubstep...

"Another Milestone for Dubstep as Nike use 16 Bit tune JUMP in their latest advert for football boots featuring Fernando Torres and Wayne Rooney..." ( quoted from the website)

The Advert shows an advance in media,
*online mag
*futuristic graphics that are mainly connected with dubstep
*visual entertainment...edits to the beat...

Researching Ancillary products; Digipaks (to be continued...)

It is very diffident to find Dubstep digipaks by individual artists...Many artists that produce dubstep music many only do this for one particular song, or maybe two. But the artist will still stick to thier original genre and base their dubstep music as something to present how diverse they are, as a bonus track or just as a remix.

Researching Ancillary products: Digipaks and their importance to the music industry

Digipaks

Digipaks are a form of Cd packaging usually made of cardboard, they can open out into two parts or even three.
They are used as a form of promotion for the Artist and can enhance the distribution of their music.
A Digipak more personal for the audience that purchase it, digipaks come with extra feautures which you might not be likely to find on a normal CD.

These include:
  • Artist biography, how they started up, or created the album
  • More information about the songs
  • Extra Graphics
  • Appreciation from the Artist for purchasing the Album (Thank you notes)
  • Promotional stickers
  • Sometimes lyrics booklet
  • Autographs
  • Posters (usually A4)

With these features, the audience can feel appreciated by the artist and they will feel closer to them. Digipaks can create a form of reward to them making them feel special and more open to lpurchasing more Albums from the artist. Many often collect digipaks by specific artists or various artists.
·         Digipaks create or build on an artist image.
·         They are aslo a way in which artists can appeal to a wider audience, therefore boosting sales and bringing some profit into the labels due to the higher price
Use of digipaks can also decrease the number of piracy downloads

Futher research on Digipaks....

Digipacks have pros and cons:

·         They look nice, and many bands and labels like to use them for aesthetic reasons. The three section digipack sleeves opens up more design options because there is more room. However, they're more expensive

·         Digipacks don't crack like jewel CD cases do, but they will rip and eventually the paper begins to peel apart and separate.

·         The trays in digipacks break much more often then in jewel cases. There's not as much protection since the outer portion of made of paper, so the teeth that hold the CD in place crack and fall out easily.

·         When the teeth of the tray does break in a digipack, the CD falls out of the bottom of the digipack, because unlike jewel cases, there is nothing to hold it in.

·         Digipacks can be more environmentally friendly than jewel cases because they can be made of recycled paper - however, they aren't always in fact made in this way

·         Digipacks look great, but if you're just starting out and money is tight, looking for ways to cut your manufacturing costs is important. Stretching your budget to because you like digipacks aesthetically is not a good investment.
